Settings

Settings apply to this device. A subset of preferences (theme, layout, sort, groups, and similar) syncs with your account when cloud sync is on; anything about how this machine behaves stays local.

  • Close to system tray: closing the window minimizes the app instead of quitting.
  • Run on startup: launch when you sign in to Windows.
  • Start minimized: start hidden in the tray.
  • Show splash screen on startup.
  • Show sync badges on cards: the cloud icon that marks whether an entry has reached the server. Turning it off changes nothing about what syncs.
  • Desktop notifications: Windows notifications while the app is in the background.
  • In-app popup: the small toast at the bottom right, with separate switches for copy and paste operations.

Short cues for shared items arriving, join requests, a space opening up, and refused actions, with a play button to preview each. Copy and paste sounds exist too but ship off, because they fire constantly. Sounds are synthesized in the app; no audio files are involved.

  • Paste slots: how many numbered rows the paste popup shows, 3 to 10 (default 3).
  • Keep history across app restarts: off by default. Until enabled, unpinned history is memory-only.
  • Auto-save copied entries: automatically add every capture to the Saved group.
  • Open data folder: opens the folder holding your history, pinned entries, notes and settings.
  • Your current version, with Check now, Download, and Restart and install, plus the release notes inline.
  • Check for updates automatically: looks shortly after start and periodically after. Updates are never installed without asking.
  • Get beta versions: receive new features early alongside every normal release. Turning it off stops future betas; it cannot move you back to an older version.

The app follows your OS light/dark setting until you pick a theme by hand; after that, your choice wins.

Sign-in, sync mode, devices, storage and the recovery code live on the Account screen rather than in Settings. See Cloud sync.
