Smart clipboard for Windows and Linux
The clipboard that remembers.
Orange Copy Paste keeps the text, images and files you copy in a searchable history, next to your notes, on every device. End-to-end encrypted, and fully usable offline.
How it works
Copy. Find. Paste.
Copy anywhere
Keep copying the way you always have. A background watcher notices every copy in about a fifth of a second and adds it to history: text, links, images, files, even rich HTML.
Find it later
Search by content or group name. Filter by type, date, group, or cloud state, and every filter shows how many items it would leave before you apply it.
Paste it back
A small popup opens at your cursor with your recent and pinned items. Press a number, 1 to 9, and that item is pasted into whatever app you are in.
Features
Small app. Long memory.
Everything below works without an account. Sync and sharing are layered on top, never wired in as a requirement.
History that holds on
A rolling 100 entries, always deduped. Pin up to 10 for the quick-paste popup, save what should survive a restart, and clear-all never touches what you saved.
Groups and filters
Tag entries with colored groups, then filter by type, date, group, or cloud state. Deleting a group gives you five seconds to undo it.
Notes with a real editor
Headings, task lists, tables, code blocks with syntax highlighting, callouts, images and attachments. Export any note as Markdown whenever you want out.
Images, files and video
Screenshots and photos are captured at full quality and kept on disk, not in memory. Copied videos play right on the card.
Works offline, forever
No account required. Everything lives on your machine, and the app is fully usable with sync off or the network gone. Cloud sync is a choice, not a requirement.
Quiet by design
Lives in the tray, starts with Windows if you want, and stays out of the way. Notification sounds exist, but the noisy ones are off by default.
In the app
Every surface, up close.
Drawn with the app's own colors, spacing and type, so what you see here is what installs.

bun run tauri build
Items from your other devices arrive the moment they are copied, and what you copy here uploads right away.
Spaces are not affected. What you share to a space still goes out right away, and what other people share with you always arrives live.

Updates
Save your recovery code
If you forget your password, this code is the only thing that can unlock your synced items on a new device. We cannot recover them for you.

#ff3e1c on #0e0e0e reads 4.6:1, so the label needs 600 weight.

Ship the rail at 272 and let people drag it. The old fixed one was too tight for four members.
Cloud sync
Sync that cannot read your data.
Your password is the encryption secret, not just a login. Everything is encrypted on your machine before it leaves, so the server only ever stores ciphertext. Not your clips, not your notes, not even your settings are readable to anyone but you.
Realtime
Items from your other devices arrive the moment they are copied, and what you copy here uploads right away.
Passive
Items from your other devices arrive every 5 minutes, or when you press Refresh. What you copy here still uploads right away.
Manual
Nothing new uploads on its own. Pick what to send with Upload to cloud, on an item or on a selection.
The mode is per device. Deletes travel too, offline work queues up, and conflicts resolve to the latest edit.
Spaces
A clipboard you can share.
A Space is a live, shared feed between any number of people. Share a clip or a note into it and everyone sees it in seconds, still end-to-end encrypted with a key the server never holds.
- Invite your way. A code, a link that works for people without the app, or an email. People can also ask to join, and any member can let them in.
- Auto-copy incoming. Turn it on per space and shared items land straight on your clipboard as they arrive.
- Send filters, off by default. Auto-share only the content, types or groups you choose. Until you do, only items you share by hand go in.
- Talk about it in place. Comment on anything shared into a space, with mentions.
Security
Built so trust is not required.
A wrong password is just a failed decryption. There is nothing on the server to guess against, reset, or subpoena into plaintext.
- AES-256-GCM
- Encrypts every clip, note, key wrap and even your settings blob before anything leaves your machine.
- Argon2id
- Turns your password into a key on your device. The password itself is never sent anywhere.
- X25519
- Moves keys between your devices and space members without the server ever holding a usable one.
- Per-item keys
- Every item is encrypted under its own random key. One item never unlocks another, and sharing wraps a key instead of re-encrypting content.
- OS keychain
- Device keys live in Windows Credential Manager or your Linux keyring, and master keys exist in memory only, wiped on exit.
- Recovery code
- A 150-bit code, shown once and stored nowhere, that makes a forgotten password survivable.
- Signed updates
- A bundle installs only if its minisign signature matches the key baked into the app.
- Local first
- The encryption boundary is the network. Your local data stays plain and fast, and the app works fully offline.
The full model, including what the server does see, is written down plainly in the security docs.
Download
Your clipboard is about to get a memory.
Free, no account, nothing to configure. Install it, copy something, press Ctrl+Shift+V.
Linux
deb, rpm and AppImage builds. X11 is the smoothest ride, and Wayland works with a small setup step.
Updates arrive inside the app, signature-checked, and never install without asking. A beta channel is one switch away in Settings.
